Being a former resident of the famous city of Roswell, Sid Hendrix was naturally into government cover-ups and conspiracies. In his teens he became obsessed with UFOs and secret military projects, and this led to a terrible accident which horribly mutated his body and DNA. One day, Sid and a friend decided to visit the city of Alamogordo in hopes of finding debris which was left over from the Trinity Project of 1945 in order to study it. Unfortunately, what they found was something much worse. Upon finding a hidden cave, they decided to enter it only to fall down a slope on the other side and into a pool of toxic waste. After a few moments of desperation, they managed to escape only to realize days later that their bodily features were changing. Sid Hendrix was no longer a normal teenager as he was mutating by the day and there was no stopping it. The more his appearance changed, the less he was accepted in the world. After a few months of this, his family members and closest friends began to develop cancerous tumors and over time he realized that aside from becoming an apparent monster, he was also radioactive! The man now known as Atomic Punk decided to go into hiding and so he chose to live underground in the sewers of the city until he learned to control his powers. Now he lives in Millennium City and hopes to help the world which once frowned upon his presence and is determined to make his deceased friends and family members proud of his decision in becoming a hero!

Parasite was with Atomic Punk during their search for leftover nuclear bomb debris in Alamogordo, New Mexico. After their accident, which left them mutated and radioactive, Parasite blamed Punk for having taken him to that location in the desert. Unlike Atomic Punk, Parasite let his anger get the best of him and so he did not embrace his abilities for heroic purposes. Since his powers caused the deaths of his immediate family and close friends, he decided there was nothing left for him but to accept his mutation and use his abilities for personal gain. His mutation was a bit different than Punk's in that he has to absorb the natural elements from other living things in order to survive. Over the last few years he began to kill people who tried to reason with him and has even involved himself with many of the mutants of the New Mexico desert. Atomic Punk is determined to stop Parasite, but it won't be an easy task putting away one of the Desert's most dangerous criminals!
